Combe-in-Teignhead, was featured on Relocation Relocation
and is considered to be one of the most popular satellite villages of Newton
Abbot. It has a rural feel but offers easy access to nearby towns and road and
rail routes. Within the village there is an active village hall and traditional
pub with a reputation for good food. Just outside of Combe, there is a
beautiful amenity field with pavilion and stunning river views, managed by a
local committee, where various events and functions are held throughout the
year. There is also a popular riverside restaurant which offers vistas which
change with the seasons. The pubs restaurants and shops at Shaldon are just 2
miles away.
It is picturesque village with a mixture of properties which
include thatched cottages, a library and post office converted to homes many
years ago and courtyard barn developments among others. These range in size
from the cosy to the grandiose and they reflect the wide range of residents who
now live in the village and make the local pub and events varied and not to be
missed. You never know who you’re are going to meet or what you will learn.
If you are interested in joining this eclectic community on
a permanent basis or maybe looking for a rural retreat with atmosphere, two
great properties are available which might fit the bill for you.
Teign View Cottage has been on the market for some time.
It’s a stunning thatched home enjoying open views. You would have thought that
it would have been snapped up. Until now it has however had one downside, no
potential for parking close to the property. The great news is that planning
permission has just been granted for a parking area. The property remains on
the market at the pre parking price, so someone will shortly be picking up a
bargain. This property offers everything you could look for in a traditional
Devon thatched cottage presented with a contemporary twist. The accommodation
comprises hallway, sitting room, dining room, modern kitchen, utility
room and cloakroom / wc. Upstairs there is a master bedroom with ensuite
bathroom, guest bedroom with ensuite shower room and two further bedrooms with
family bathroom. It is offered for sale at £479.500.
Hazelbrook Cottage is probably the best of its kind available. A
cottage style property with flowing accommodation and offering room to spare.
All presented to an extremely high standard having been thoughtfully and
without compromise, improved by the current owner. It has been both a home and
successfully used as a high end holiday let with some guests returning year
after year, due to the location and standard of accommodation. It has a
farmhouse feel with oak floors, a bespoke kitchen and a lovely Victorian style
overlooking the cottage style garden which adjoins the babbling brook from
which the cottages takes part of it’s name. Hazelbrook has a spacious hall,
lounge dinner opening to garden room/ conservatory. Kitchen utility and
cloakroom, library/ bedroom four. Three further bedrooms, one with ensuite and
family bathroom. Guide price £400,000.
Hazelbrook or Teign View Cottage? Which one is better?
That’s not for us to say, but for you to decide. They are in close proximity
and both have their individual benefits. Come and view both, one or the other
might be your ideal next home. Further information is and viewings
are available via Coast & Country Estate Agents.
